Description

The single magpie is a Western Symbol of sorrow, however in Eastern countries a single bird is one of good fortune.

Here the berry in the magpies mouth, and the tiny drop of berry juice falling from it is symbolic of the tale that the magpie carries a drop of the devil’s blood on its tongue. Its said that if this blood is extracted then the magpie will be able to converse in human speech.
